Antrax was created to store data and information from its time and it is given a duty, an order to protect the information that it holds. Antrax then began to build its own arsenal of defence mechanisms: Neither groundbreaking nor recycled, this book is simply a good read.

I am acutely aware of the middle-book-letdown syndrome we all have encountered in our reading. But now it seems antrx Walker and his team were lured there for sinister, unforeseen purposes. This book did stand on its own but I felt that I was missing the whole picture so I have reserved 1 and 3 from my library. I very rarely rate books as 5 stars on here, but Antrax was quite a treat.

The action is much better, though still not on par with his other, earlier novels, but the phrasing terry vocabulary still seem out of place for his usual writing style. The ending was unsatisfactory because there was no ending, and the nature and identity of the book’s main antagonist was revealed way too early. Want to Read saving…. And with it, the fate of the Four Lands hangs in the balance.


What Brooks brings to Antrax is not just a well written fantasy, but a joining together of fantasy and science fiction where elves and dwarves meet the computer systems and technology of the long forgotten past.

I don’t know if its both the writing and the fact that I have not gone back to reading Terry Brooks in years that made this such a fast and pleasurable read. A recurring theme in the story is the conflict between past and present, and more particularly between science and magic. I think I may have enjoyed tefry perhaps a bit more than the Ilse Witch.

Overall I’m really enjoying the series and excited for the next book. As usual, Brooks leaves at least as many loose ends as he ties up and drops in several surprises. Where the previous book, Isle Witch, gives the fantasy enthusiast broos by the world created by Brooks a taste of the Steampunk genre this book goes even further and it works out extremely well and not just because of the blending of the tech with the magic of the fantasy, but because it also adds to the overall story and gives the reader quite an awesome plot twist.

The Best Books of The twrry of the Four Lands history incorporates so much that it is impossible to set it all down at once or even in a couple of books. Of course, if you accept that the two series are joined, it means that the Lady and the Knights of the Word failed in their efforts to control antrad demons and stop the destruction of humanity.
